August is usually a time for relaxation and a slower pace. Adding a good book to that equation, along with a lounge chair in the shade, the rustling of trees providing the perfect background, and a cup of coffee within reach, creates the perfect combination.
When the kids were younger, reading books other than children's stories was almost pushed aside. Now that my older boy is nearly thirteen and a passionate reader himself, he often reads to his younger brother, who doesn't read yet but eagerly listens. This finally allows me to steal an hour or so from the day for the pleasure of immersing myself in books. Lately, autobiographies have captured my interest.
The book I'm currently reading is Mira Furlan - Love Me More Than Anything in the World: Stories about Belonging . What an incredible woman! And what an incredibly written memoir! So personal. So introspective! I can't put it away.
