During sleep, amazing stories can be written in the brain. Sometimes whole movies are made. When we wake up we often forget what we dreamed. However, when we remember dreams, they usually leave a strong impression that can accompany us for a long time. And let the dreams be so unbelievable, we want to undestand and explain them. If you want to decipher your dream, it is best when you wake up, grab a pen and take a few notes.
1. Details
Write down people, objects, numbers, colors, shapes, locations... According to Freud the smallest details can play the biggest role in dream interpretation.
2. Associations
Write down all the events from the dream that reminded you of something. Again, pay attention to detail. Let's say you learned in a dream to ride your first bike you got as a child. It was red and it was too big for you. Or did the dream take place in a place you hadn't been to in a long time? Think about what the place, object, person of your dreams reminds you of and how?
3. Feelings
Write down all the feelings you remember floating to the surface while dreaming. Was it joy, fear, insecurity, nausea, relief, reassurance, excitement, infatuation, ... And what were the feelings when waking up?
4. Similarity of feelings
Ask yourself what in your present evokes similar feelings in you as they did in your dreams? For example, an oversized bike in your dreams fills you with the insecurity and fear you felt as a child? You had the feeling that you'll fail riding such a bike and that an accident is inevitable. What arouses similar feelings in your current life?
5. Interpretation
Review the list of associations and try to form them into your present life. Let's say the fear of riding the bike that was too big for you at that time represents something similar in your present life? Something that you feel you are not up to it yet? Maybe never will be? Does people around you expect you to do it or even force you against your will? What are things in your life that evoke you the same feelings?
Thinking through your dreams, you will get to know yourself better and deeper, the flow of your thoughts will become more clearer. You will know better what are your weaknesses and strengths, your desires, longings, fears ... Armed with the knowledge gained from dreams, you may find it easier to find and orient yourself in your everyday life.
