Motherhood. How can one describe it in words and summarize all the emotions that it brings? That feeling of vulnerability, unconditional love, and care that never stops and sometimes even inflicts physical pain in our chest. In what other area of my life would I have long ago given up, raised my hands, and said, "I can't do it anymore!" For my kids, I reassemble myself every day, move on, every day in an effort to become a better person through the thorns and stars of parenthood, for them and also for me.
At the same time, I'm aware that I will never be perfect or omnipotent and that I have no idea what the future holds for us. To speak only from the beautiful and good sides of parenthood or life would be the same as telling only half of the story. The most we have is the effort, the hope, and the gratitude that we, as a family, manage to stay connected.
As a mother, you are expected to be a pillar of strength, a source of comfort, and a beacon of hope. Your love should be unconditional and unwavering, a force that can conquer even the toughest of trials. You give of yourself endlessly, putting the needs of your children before your own, often without a sure feeling that you know what you are doing and without confirmation from others that you are doing the right thing.
Being a mother is definitely not without its struggles. It can be exhausting, overwhelming, and at times, even heartbreaking. The sleepless nights, the tantrums, the worry, and the doubt - all are part of the journey. But through it all, you persevere, drawing strength from the love to your children.
Mother's Day is celebrated all over the world, but on different dates in different countries. Happy Mother's Day to all of you who are in this role in a conventional or any other way and no matter when you celebrate it. Your dedication, your courage, and your unwavering love are an inspiration is what the world needs. It is what new generations need.
A great embrace of strength, hope, and love also goes out to all parents who are currently facing particularly difficult situations due to war, loss, inability to conceive, illness, or any other life challenge. Motherhood shows us just how far we can go. And when necessary, we go even further.
May you know that your hard work is appreciated, and your love is felt deeply. Happy Mother's Day, today and every day.
With love and gratitude, Bojana
